Fresh look for Spring

Spring is in the air and I’ve been feeling antsy to change things up a bit. On Friday I moved our living room furniture around but I guess that didn’t satisfy me because I decided somewhat impulsively to redesign my blog!

I use WordPress for my blog and I found a free theme with a Creative Commons License. I changed quite a bit of the coding to customize it, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it too!

In the sidebar you’ll see some new badges promoting Sweetbeets. I found a neat Flickr badge that uses Flash but I decided not to use it once I realized it wasn’t showing up in Firefox. After fiddling with things for a while, I decided to make my own badges. The graphic for the Twitter badge is found here and is also available to use for free on your blog.

    Looking good. This is the layout I want to switch to eventually. Having a hard time with the code though. Grr. On the ‘to-do’ list for sometime soon. :P

    Thanks Katie and Adele! Though I did take one html course at the local college a few years ago, playing with the code is lots of trial and error for me. I’ll change something in the css and see what happens as a result. Sometimes it’s ok and other times is an oops and I need to quickly hit ‘undo’! I’m much faster now that I have a better idea of what to look for. Even still, I’m sure I spent at least 5 or 6 hours customizing the new layout. It’s great there are so many free Wordpress themes available. I cannot imagine starting from scratch!
