Trends in design for children
You can find a summary of four key trends in children’s design at the website for CIFFKIDS children’s fashion fair. I really identified with the revivalist trend for the Fall 2008/Winter 2009 season: “This is about organic products and eco-friendly toys as consumers increasingly search for meaning in the products they buy and the experiences they seek out.” Handcrafted finishes including crochet and embroidery and materials like wood and industrial felt characterize this trend. CIFFKIDS also says you can expect to see a fusion of Indian, European and Eurasian influences pulled together using unexpected combinations and contrasts, graffiti-inspired imagery, and simple geometric forms and bold colors. CIFFKIDS takes place from 7 - 10 August 2008 in Copenhagen.
